As the war worsened and we were more desperate, we trained students and adults with bamboo spears, water bucket relays, etc.
I remember hearing from a Hiroshima Bombing survivor about practicing with bamboo spears. She showed photos of women young and old, practicing with bamboo spears, learning how to kill the enemy. She laughed about how she knew about how desperate our country was.
Every day, she heard sirens and explosions. Men and young boys were told to help with digging underground bomb shelters in the parks, school yard or in the garden. Women worked in factories to help with the war effort, and as well as practice fighting and fire prevention.

And yet people still try to argue that the dropping of the atomic bombs was cruel. Saved millions of lives.
