This *cantinera* is [Irene Morales Infante](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irene_Morales), considered a war hero by Chile, who joined the army after his husband was executed by bolivian soldiers, participating through most of [the war](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_of_the_Pacific) since the amphibious assault in [Pisagua](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Pisagua) (1879) until the [defeat of the last peruvian guerrillas](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Huamachuco) resisting chilean occupation in the Andean Mountains three years later. This picture was taken in occupied Lima in 1881.
