During the collapse of South Vietnam in 1975, President Gerald Ford ordered the evacuation of Vietnamese orphans from Saigon in the face of a massive North Vietnamese offensive. This mission, officially named Operation Babylift, began April 4, 1975, and evacuated more than 3,000 orphans throughout the month.
Imagine hitting some major turbulence and then you gotta go up and down the aisles picking up babies
There was a lady from Columbus Georgia and Fort Benning who was responsible for getting so many orphaned children out and helping them find loving homes.
Just remembered her name……
Betty Tisdale, the Angel of Saigon.
I wonder how many adults were on the plane to care for them. That’s a lot of babies.
Omg with a flight that long I can’t imagine the smell and the screams.. wonder who had to change all those diapers
United would have put them in the overhead bins.
