Civil War veteran poses with a fighter jet, 1955 – “Uncle Bill” Lundy claimed to be the last living Confederate Civil War veteran in Florida, and spent his 107th birthday at Eglin AFB, Florida in January 1955. 91600 x 1255 px]
Hate to be that guy, but unfortunately, Bill Lundy’s story doesn’t seem to be true.
1860 census records showed that he was born in 1859, not 1848. He would have been only 6 years old when the Civil War ended. There is no record of him ever serving in the Confederate army.

There we go. Last week we were wondering what another “giant leap” in technology, represented by two things from different era’s, in a single picture could be. This is a great one: a warfighter from the days of massed infantry on foot/Calvary charges etc, posing with what we still use to wage war today, more or less.
