I dont have a study to back my claim only experience living with them. Dogs "know" when they have a job to do and are willing to do so at risk of life and limb. They sense the value of life as this task that I know I can do or die trying is "mine". The humans the odd part of my pack, will know me as a true loyal member. Their emotions are worn on their collar shall we say. Ppl ask why we get more upset about dogs misfortunes then that of fellow humans? Because they are truer in their emotions and we know this maybe? That we’ve all been deceived by other humans and never by a dog? If a dog doesnt like u theres no deceit. It’s clear. But a human will use you and spit you out once your utility is considered maxed out. Ever wonder why animals like zebra arent used for humans to ride like horses? They wont have it. You cant break a zebra into servitude like a horse. All animals arent equal. We are lucky to have dogs as companions. Cats as well, I love them dearly.

TIL dogs played a role in WW1, it was either as guard dog who didn’t bark but growled lowly when someone approached, worked as a messenger.
The best thing is there was a dog called Satan (what a lovely name for a dog :D) who saved a group of French Soldiers, they where told by their command that they should hold their position until reinforcement comes, but telephone and telegraph lines where fucked, and they hadn’t any pigeons left.
And here comes Satan a three leged dog with two cages with pigeon in it, and a message that they need to hold on until tomorrow, they send a message with the possition of the germans with one of the pigeons, and bit latter the French haul some ass.
I wish they would tought us more what happened during WW1.
