Is it wrong that this is still how I think of Dutch women?
I wonder how hard it was to maneuver in those shoes
Why are they so "proofed" out around the waist? Did they have some way of hitching up their garments while doing chores?
Edit: here’s a point of reference: traditional Dutch dresses come all the way down to the ground. In this photo I’m wondering if there was a method for holding up these dresses while out doing chores. It would keep the fabric clean and less likely to get snagged on objects.
So they are real. Those awfully uncomfortable looking wooden shoes were actually worn by people.
Aaah the "klompen" (the wooden shoes). Also, what’s that big thing in the background?
EDIT: A boat, I see it now
Whoa Mama, I bet they made some hearty stews!
Is it my eyes or do they have freakishly small heads?
I know it’s Holland; but I’m looking at this picture too soon after watching, ‘Midsommer,’
I visited Marken a few years ago and went to a traditional clog-making shop! It was so cool seeing how they were made. The area was beautiful as well!
What’s that big thing in the background?
Wooden Shoes, Wooden Head, Wouldn’t Listen
There are only two things that I hate in this world.
Match.com was terrible at the turn of that century.
The one on the right blocked me immediately.
