« Ashley’s Sack, A mid-1800s hand-embroidered feedsack gifted from a slave mother, Rose, to her nine-year-old daughter, Ashley, when Ashley was sold away. The gift was likely passed down to Ashley’s granddaughter, Ruth Middleton, who embroidered their story on to the sack in 1921.(2009)
