This photo used to make me so afraid it was horrifying to think about him slowly dying. It’s taken me many years to realise the power and inspiration in this image. Thankyou for keeping his memory and the memory of his sacrifice alive.

There was a very similar scene in the show ‘The Man in the High Castle’

I was always thought the most insane part of this story was that multiple eyewitnesses said the man never made a sound. Never showed any fear while he doused himself with gasoline, never made a sound while he burned alive.
Frankly it’s one of the only displays I can think of that makes me think some people do really get something out of religion.
