Dachau concentration camp
Dachau concentration camp was the first of the Nazi concentration camps opened in Germany, intended to hold political prisoners. It is located on the grounds of an abandoned munitions factory northeast of the medieval town of Dachau, about 16 km (10 mi) northwest of Munich in the state of Bavaria, in southern Germany.
DrJawn: My Pop Pop was in the 63rd Infantry Division during WWII. They liberated Dachau. He said they were just walking through the woods and they saw some buildings, didn’t know what it was and when they got there, they couldn’t believe what they found. He didn’t talk about the war much, I only know a few stories but holy shit, he was 17 when he enlisted.
